Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Disability Services
The Disability Services (DS) Office coordinates services, accommodations and academic adjustments for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to facilities, programs, services and resources of the university.
We foster a philosophy that encourages independence and assists students in realizing their academic potential. In addition, Disability Services assists faculty, staff and other campus departments in providing information and resources to achieve our common goal of creating and maintaining an accessible campus community.
We are located on the lower level of Driftwood 101 on the eastern side of campus. Disability Services staff maintain a welcoming attitude to all who enter our offices. We encourage and maintain a good, strong working relationship with students, faculty and staff of the university. Faculty are provided the support and resources necessary to ensure students’ needs and that accommodations are effectively and appropriately met.
Services and auxiliary aids are provided to students with a wide array of disabilities including students with physical, sensory, neurological, chronic health, learning, psychological and other impairments who qualify under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students with temporary impairments may receive services on a short-term basis.
Exam Services provides examination services and accommodations to ensure that evaluation methods represent the students’ abilities rather than their disabilities. Dependent on the nature of the course, disability and documentation, exam accommodations may include extended time, reduced distraction area, readers and/or scribes, computers for essays, or materials in alternative format. Exam Services is located near the main office in Classroom East 110.
